Skin Histology: Blood Vessel vs Gland vs Artifact
This is an awesome trick taught to me by one of my greatest pathology mentors, Dr. Jae Ro. He is the biggest reason I became a pathology educator, so if you like my videos, you have Dr. Ro to thank for them! White/empty space on tissue sections usually can be boiled down into 1 of 3 things:
- vessels (endothelial lining),
- glands/cysts (epithelial lining), or
- artifacts (no cells lining the space).
This is one of the many many "triads" that Dr. Ro uses to teach his students, residents, and fellows
