Developing psychological therapy skills: Transferring training into practice
This programme provides best practice information about how psychological practice skills gained in training can be optimally applied, practiced and maintained in clinical settings. It was commissioned to support multi-disciplinary upskilling in the Psychological Therapies for Severe Mental Health Problems (PTSMHP) work programme. However, the principles discussed are broadly applicable to any psychological professional training. Whether it’s experienced psychological professionals upskilling in new modalities, wider healthcare staff being trained in psychological practice skills, or trainee psychological professionals completing their core qualification, the same principles apply across the health and care workforce.
The programme is structured as open-access content for learners to dip in and out of sections, based on their relevance.
