This theme is all about what risks to look out for in someone experiencing depression, and when and how we should raise our concerns. We start by considering the risk of harm that someone with depression might experience, for example, self-harm, self-neglect and suicidal thoughts. We then consider what we should be doing if we do identify these risks in someone with depression. Finally, we think about these risks in the context of safeguarding. This learning consists of three videos, and a podcast that delves deeper into the topics presented in the videos. Finish the learning by completing three questions to check your understanding of the theme.

These resources are not intended to replace your organisation's safeguarding training. Anyone working with older adults should have up-to-date safeguarding training. If you do not have up-to-date safeguarding training, please ask your manager for this.
