This learning resource focuses on the investigation and differential diagnosis of intermittent exotropia.

The learning resource is intended to help the learner meet the following standards of proficiency outlined by the HCPC:

  • know the principles and application of measurement techniques used to assess binocular vision and other ocular conditions
  • diagnose a range of vision, binocular vision and ocular motility defects and all categories of strabismus
  • know how to use optical methods to influence vision and binocular vision
  • understand the theoretical basis of, and the variety of approaches to, assessment and intervention
  • understand ocular alignment and binocular single vision, and the sensory and motor elements required to attain and maintain these
  • critically evaluate research and other evidence to inform their own practice
