JCST Guidance on Maximising Training Opportunities

Not yet rated

COVID-19 has had a huge impact on surgery as a whole and training specifically, with a 50% reduction in operative training and a similar impact on non-operative aspects of training in surgery.

The Joint Committee on Surgical Training (JCST), in collaboration with ASiT and BOTA, the main Trainee Associations, Heads of School, Lead Deans and Surgical Royal Colleges, has produced a document which quantifies the impact of COVID-19 on training and offers practical solutions for all stakeholders in training to help and speed training recovery.

It is everyone’s problem and everyone needs to be part of the solution

#NoTrainingTodayNoSurgeonsTomorrow.

Additional information

This statement from the JCST, provides suggestions for optimising surgical training across wide-ranging settings. The document provides guidance for consultants and SAS doctors, schools of surgery and TPDs, and employers.
