BSH Transfusion Guidelines
The British Society for Haematology raises standards of clinical care and laboratory practice through guidelines and the provision of expert advice.
There are many transfusion guidelines published by the BSH.
Key guidelines for the transfusion laboratory include:
- Pre transfusion compatibility procedures in blood transfusion laboratories
- Blood grouping and antibody testing in pregnancy
- The estimation of feto-maternal haemorrhage
- The use of anti-D immunoglobulin for prevention of haemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn
- Haematological management of major haemorrhage
- The use of irradiated blood components
