BAUS Information about urodynamic studies 2017
This leaflet contains evidence-based information about your proposed urological procedure. We have consulted specialist surgeons during its preparation, so that it represents best practice in UK urology. You should use it in addition to any advice already given to you.
Key Points • Urodynamic studies are designed to show how well your bladder is working • Fluid is run into your bladder and the pressure response to filling and emptying your bladder are measured using a small catheter (tube) • Urodynamic studies are sometimes combined with X-ray screening to look in more detail at the way your bladder expands and contracts • Urodynamic studies may not always provide an explanation for your urinary symptoms • The commonest complication is infection in your urine
