This module gives guidance on how to overcome barriers to patient-led follow-up using motivational approaches. The main learning objectives for this module are:
- To understand the reasons for adopting a patient-centred motivational approach when promoting PETNECK2 app use and patient-led follow-up in regard to the ACT behaviours targeted.
- To be aware of the meaning and importance of self-efficacy and autonomous motivation.
- To understand how we can facilitate patients’ self-efficacy and identify relevant strategies for doing so.
- To understand the ‘building blocks’ for autonomous motivation and identify relevant strategies for doing so.
- To understand the implications of communication style to enhancing patients’ self efficacy and autonomous motivation.
- To become familiar with a strategy or technique for discovering patients’ enablers and barriers to self-efficacy and autonomous motivation.[
