What Counts as CPD? (HCPC)

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) includes any learning activity that improves your practice and benefits service users. Examples:

  • Work-based learning: shadowing, supervision, case reviews.
  • Formal education: courses, workshops, conferences.
  • Self-directed learning: reading journals, research, online modules.
  • Professional activities: presenting, mentoring, contributing to policy.
  • Reflection: evaluating experiences and applying learning. CPD must be varied, relevant, and recorded, showing impact on your role and service quality.
