Supporting Black families for equitable outcomes on the neonatal unit
We are delighted to have partnered with Black Mothers Matter to bring you two videos exploring the mental health of parents racialised as Black on a neonatal unit.
Black Mothers Matter deliver a range of resources and services that provide accurate, relevant, safer information and support to their community of Black & Mixed Black women and birthers. They also work with professionals in the NHS and other organisations - so that staff are more knowledgeable and better equipped to support all types of Black people giving birth.
This first video provides insights into the neonatal experience for Black families, specifically explaining why it is necessary to tailor emotional support. They also explore key themes that are particularly relevant within the neonatal care setting, to help support FICare delivery that is accessible for all.
Our thanks to Sonah and Caprice.
