Physical Activity in People with Pre-diabetes, Gestational or Type 2 Diabetes - Intermediate - CDEP

Being active promotes physical and emotional well-being as well as decreases the risk of developing many physical and mental health conditions. However, people at risk of or living with gestational or type 2 diabetes might be worried about being active or doing sport and may need support to do so safely. This topic aims to support healthcare staff provide safe advice to people living with pre-diabetes, gestational or type 2 diabetes by: Being aware of the benefits of physical activity and encouraging people to become more active within their ability. Being able to explain the impact different activities have on glucose levels in people with pre-diabetes, gestational or type 2 diabetes. Raising the awareness of what changes might be required to diabetes medications, diet and glucose monitoring regimens. Being able to guide people on when activity should be avoided and what action can be taken to prevent activity-related hypoglycaemia.
