Safe Use of Insulin in the Community - Intermediate - CDEP

Not yet rated

Insulin is a dangerous drug that can be harmful, and can even cause someone's death, if it is used incorrectly. Insulin errors can lead to low glucose levels (hypoglycaemia) or high glucose levels (hyperglycaemia) which can result in the person having: - an increased risk of hospitalisation, - poor treatment satisfaction, - reduced confidence in their diabetes care, - an increased risk of diabetes-related complications, - and in extreme cases, even death. This essential training supports all levels of health and social care staff working in a community, care home, GP surgery or outpatient setting.

TOPIC TIPS... You do not have to complete the topic in one go... CDEP is designed to be done in 'bite-sized chunks' fitting into your busy life! This topic generally takes around 45 - 90 minutes to complete depending on your chosen CDEP level - although this may differ from person to person. There are a number of sections (competencies) within this topic, each with its own set of resources that may be useful to review should you require further support. However, undertaking the section itself is part of the learning process and will confirm or improve your current level of knowledge around that specific section, so why not jump straight in and have a go...
