Building pathology capacity in East Central and Southern Africa

Not yet rated

Dr Shahin Sayed, Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi, Kenya discusses how at current training rates, it is estimated that countries in East, Central and Southern Africa would need more than 400 years to reach the pathologist-to-population ratios currently achieved in high-income countries. The establishment of the College of Pathologists of East, Central and Southern Africa (COPECSA) aims to address this shortfall through the harmonisation of postgraduate curricula, accreditation and examinations across the region.
