This elearning session supports healthcare professionals to understand female genital mutilation (FGM) and its significance as a human rights violation. It enables learners to recognise global and UK‑specific practices, identify the 4 WHO‑defined types and understand the short and long‑term health consequences. It also outlines key legal duties, including mandatory reporting.
Targeted at clinicians and safeguarding practitioners, the session aims to build confidence in recognising risk, supporting affected women and girls and navigating referral pathways.
