Course Overview:
This course will teach you how to undertakeglucoseand ketone testing using the NOVA Statstrip meter. The Statstrip module navigates users through all the stages from initially logging on to the machine, to entering patient ID, performing a patient and QC test, troubleshooting and ending with a competency test which if passed (pass mark 80%) will mark the unit as complete. This module and end competency test can be completed in around 10 minutes.
Course Objective:
The objectives of the module include:
- Understanding how to obtain aglucoseand ketone result.
- How to turn theStatstripon and off, add information and navigation of the screens.
- To recognise the correct consumables for use with the Statstrip and their storage requirements.
- Understanding what to do with a patient test result and what action to take with an abnormal result.
- Performing a Quality Control test.
- Troubleshooting error messages on the Statstrip.
- Awareness of the limitations and drug interaction that may occur and how this may alter the results.
- Cleaning and maintenance procedures.
