ESOL for work in health and care

ESOL stands for ‘English for Speakers of Other Languages’.
‘Other Language’ speakers may need ESOL learning to develop or improve their literacy in English, at all levels and in all roles at work in health and care.
The HEE ESOL Practice Group is made up of people working in the NHS and Adult Social Care who are actively looking for ways to improve ESOL learning for work across the sector, at all levels.
Our aimis to find and share ways to improve ESOL learning for work in health and care, across the sector, at all levels:
- To improve literacy and communication skills
- Better enable numeracy and digital skills
- To Improve subject and work knowledge
- And where people have overseas qualifications – ensure these are recognised where they can be, as comparable to UK qualifications.
