Alert organisms are organisms that are identified as being potentially significant for infection prevention and control practices. They are labelled as 'alert' due to its potential for causing outbreaks, their resistance to antibiotics, and ability to cause severe disease.

Learning objectives:

  1. Identify Homerton's local protocols for preventing and controlling infections caused by alert organisms
  2. Demonstrate Homerton's local safety practices, with the example of Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) during Cannula Insertions
  3. Identify key resources and contacts for further information
