Preventing Ill Health - Alcohol and Tobacco
What is the preventing risky behaviours training about?
The 'Preventing ill health by risky behaviours: Alcohol and tobacco' training has been developed for colleagues working at Kettering General Hospital. The purpose is to help support our patients to reduce the risks to their health from smoking and alcohol consumption.
What form does the training take?
The online training will prepare staff to identify and record patient behaviours and where appropriate to deliver Brief Advice or referral.
The training is split into two modules:
- Alcohol and Tobacco Brief Interventions(five sections to complete including a final assessment)
- Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice (ALC) - Hospital Settings Pathway(four sections to complete including a final assessment)
How is the training accessed?
The NHS Education England website is the host for the training modules.

If you do not already have an e-learning account on e-LfH Hub then please register an account on the website and then complete the Alcohol and Tobacco Brief Interventions and Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice (ALC) module.
Take the time to have a look at the other information and resources also available on the website.
Once completed, you will be able to print certificates as evidence for both modules.
