Looking after staff and ourselves: Actions to prevent and respond to traumatic experiences during COVID - 19
The AWP Trauma Response Group developed as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in recognition of the unprecedented situation we all found ourselves in and the urgent need to look after staff within this context. Compassion is a core value of the NHS constitution, with being caring and compassionate one of the main reasons staff turn up to work each day. Therefore, it should be our starting point when we are thinking about preventing and responding to trauma. The development of this training package was the first action of the group, with the aim of the training being to promote conversations about staff wellbeing and prevent trauma responses. This training focuses on Trauma Informed Care, Compassionate and Inclusive Leadership, Self-Compassion and actions individuals, teams and organisations can take to promote the wellbeing of staff.
