Course Details:

This e-learning programme contains guidelines for Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS). This follows the guidance set out by the Resuscitation Council UK (2010). The programme will cover the guidelines for both infants and children.

Audience:Staff whowork with children or who may have contact with them in their environment

Duration:30 minutes

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the differences between infants and children
  • Assess a collapsed infant/child
  • Deliver rescue breaths using mouth to mouth to an infant and child
  • Perform effective chest compressions on an infant and child
  • Discuss the indications for the management of the choking infant/child and the recovery position
