Simulation training for healthcare leaders supporting returning doctors

Aim: To evaluate a simulation training intervention for multidisciplinary supervisors of doctors returning to work to improve doctors' reintegration into the workplace.

Method: 38 healthcare leaders completed a 1-day training course of didactic and experiential components.

Findings: Potential benefits of a training intervention for supervisors of returning doctors. The thematic analysis found that participants perceived improvements in their social skills, management abilities, personal values in management roles and implementing structure.

Contribution: This study highlights the potential of experiential learning to improve healthcare professionals' practice to support colleagues and provide clinical care to patients.
