In this session, we will explore digital literacy with James Freed, Deputy Director of the NHS Digital Academy. James will present the importance of digital literacy skills in the context of a wider dependence on digital technologies and data in workplace and will explore the evidence base that helps us understand how big a problem this is and how we may solve it. Recognising that this is a jointly owned problem between employers, national bodies and the state, we will then use the session to explore exactly what changes we need to see and who is best placed to put them into action. Come charged with your problems, perspectives and plans, this will be interactive and purposeful!

Learning objectives:

• Support attendees to understand the evidence base on digital literacy
• Enable attendees to put digital literacy into context with other learning and even other change initiatives
• Highlight national plans on how to address this from NHSE and the UK Government
• Contribute to thinking that will inform a shared action plan
