AHP Preceptorship Case Studies - AHP Preceptorship Lead study
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large organisation made up of five hospitals and 19,000 members of staff. There are 9 AHP professions employed within the Trust – Diagnostic Radiographers, Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Operating Department Practitioner, Orthoptics, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Speech and Language Therapists and Therapeutic Radiographers. AHPs are spread across all care groups and there is currently no Chief AHP or AHP workforce lead. There was a recognised gap in terms of AHP preceptorship within the Trust. The Trust was successful in securing NHS England funding to appoint an AHP Preceptorship Lead, to deliver a specific project to develop a robust preceptorship offer within the Trust. Sarah secured the post and started in post in Jan 2023 working alongside a nursing equivalent role.
