Design based on previous IMG initiatives in Coventry and Warwickshire and the findings from surveys of 314 GP trainees, 215 Trainers and 12 VTS Schemes in the Midlands.
SUMMARY OF INITIATIVE- TO RUN IN ADDITION TO VTS, IMG INDUCTION & EXAM SUPPORT
ST1 8 x IMG Communication Skills Workshops during ST1 GP post
ST2 8 x IMG Consultation Skills Workshops during ST2 GP post
Offered to all International Medical Graduates at the start of GP training. Opt-In but with firm commitment to attend whole programme and to sign educational contract. By focussing the programme during GP posts, this should enable trainees to be released and keep numbers to approximately 1/3 of IMG year intake improving effectiveness of consultation skills teaching.
