THE IMPORTANCE OF MENTORS IN CAREER SUCCESS
Interviews with senior leaders in the NHS have revealed how essential mentors are to career success. Mentorship is about working with someone who has more experience than you do in your career. There are also many benefits reported in reverse mentoring or peer mentoring, having a mentor who has an entirely different approach from you or having a mentor from a different sector or role. For example, if you are a clinician or Allied Health Professional who is choosing to move into an executive role, access to a well-chosen mentor can give you a window into a world that you’ve had little exposure to previously.
