NHS organisations are continually being asked to innovate and improve services without an increase in resources. Therefore the significant cost associated with high levels of employee absence is a drain on the limited resource available and requires careful management. This module aims to introduce you to some valuable techniques you can use to manage absence in the workplace more effectively.

Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to;

  • Understand your responsibilities as a manager in relation to managing absence
  • Understand the impact that absence has on the team, department and organisation
  • Understand how to record, monitor and review absence
  • Handle absence cases with increased confidence
