From RNA to the field: artificial intelligence applications in bioinformatics and agriculture in Argentina

Not yet rated

This webinar explores how artificial intelligence (AI) is driving advances in bioinformatics by enhancing the integrated analysis of large volumes of genomic, transcriptomic, and agronomic data. In Argentina, where agriculture is a cornerstone of the national economy, this convergence enables the study of gene and non-coding RNA regulation associated with key biological processes in crops, as well as the integration of molecular information with environmental, physiological, and productive variables. In this context, machine learning models (particularly transformers) are applied to predict gene functions, identify stress biomarkers, estimate yields, and predict secondary structures with pseudoknots. These data-driven approaches bridge molecular insights with practical applications: here, algorithms not only interpret complex biological information but also contribute to the design of more efficient and sustainable strategies for agriculture and beyond.

This webinar is part of the“Applications of artificial intelligence for biosciences in Latin America”webinar series, organised as part of theBiotrAIn project, a collaboration betweenUniversity of Costa Rica,CABANAnetand EMBL-EBI, funded by the Chan Zuckenberg initiative.
