Responding to trauma reactions in pregnancy and baby loss
Certificate available: complete this course to be awarded a certificate
It can be hard to know how to respond when pregnancy and baby loss triggers a 'fight, flight or freeze' reaction in families you are caring for, but we know that compassionate care helps the brain to process trauma. This module explores a range of responses you may consider when supporting families, and allows you to work through a scenario example at your own pace. It may be useful to first complete our module Recognising Trauma Reactions in Pregnancy and Baby Loss, which complements this module and can be found via the Sands catalogue page.
Duration: 10 to 15 minutes.
Audience: Suitable for all.
This module can be followed by our modules on topics like compassionate communication and looking after yourself when supporting those going through pregnancy and baby loss. Sands also offers in person training for a range of audiences, which complements our online training.
Sands uses evidence-based approaches to improve bereavement care and pregnancy outcomes through research, training and policy.
We at Sands hope these modules help you develop confidence in supporting anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss, at any stage of their journey.
Thank you for completing this training.
