Core knowledge for COVID-19 vaccinators (Autumn 2026)

This elearning session supports healthcare practitioners involved in delivering or advising on the COVID-19 vaccination programme. It explains COVID-19, vaccine development, immune response, eligibility and the legal requirements for supplying and administering vaccines. Learners will develop the knowledge needed to address questions, obtain consent, work within appropriate accountability and delegation arrangements and apply safe principles for vaccine storage, preparation, administration and adverse reaction management.
It is designed to provide healthcare practitioners involved in delivering the national COVID-19 vaccination programme with the knowledge they need to safely and effectively deliver the programme and to promote high uptake of the vaccine in the eligible cohorts.
It will cover the core knowledge areas including vaccine eligibility and legal aspects. After completing this session and the accompanying knowledge assessment session, those with a role in delivering or advising on the COVID-19 vaccines should complete the vaccine-specific sessions.
