NHSE TEL Support: Clinical Skills Online - Cannulation Training

This online training course has been developed with an intention of supporting healthcare professionals in the development of their clinical skills.

Note: User must complete Cannulation practical training prior to any attempt to draw blood specimens. This online training course can be used as a support for the practical training session and not a substitute for required Cannulation practical training session.

By completing the module it is expected that delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the legal and policy requirements
  • Establish a baseline knowledge of the relevant anatomy & physiology
  • Identify the contraindications for cannulation
  • Increase the awareness of infection control measures
  • Know the procedure for cannulation
  • Be aware of possible complications
