Course Details:

Audience: All health care professionals involved in delivering care to people with diabetes

Duration: 30 minutes

This course is the fourth part of the mission: Nutrition programme.

  • Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST) and oral nutrition support (ward level training)
  • Enteral tube feeding (poster presentations)
  • Therapeutic diets and meal provision (e-learning)
  • Dietary Management of Diabetes (e-learning)

After the completion of this e-learning programme you will be able to:

  • Describe the different types of diabetes and the therapies available
  • List the main principles of healthy eating for diabetes
  • Identify which foods from the hospital menu are suitable for people with diabetes
  • Discuss when and why self-management of diabetes is appropriate
  • Explain hypoglycaemia and how to treat it
  • Discuss the role of nutrition support in diabetes
