Course Details:

Audience: Registered Practitioners who are responsible for administering medicines

Duration: 90 minutes

Learning Objectives:

• Demonstrate ability to undertake Drug calculations
• Obtaining medicines – during & out of hours
• Have an awareness of the Trust policies in relation to medicines, and explore their impact on practice
• Identify factors to consider prior to, during and following any drug administration
• Be aware of security and storage issues
• Demonstrate/reviewdocumentation of omitted/delayed medicines on the prescription chart
• Examine reasons for drug errors and be aware of the action to be taken in the event of one
