Aim

To standardise safe practice of administration, management and monitoring of patients receiving an Epidural pain technique.

Audience: Clinical staff

Duration: 30 minutes

Learning Objectives:

• Know the difference between a spinal injection and an Epidural infusion
• Identify when Epidural infusion analgesia is indicated
• Describe the parameters which need to be recorded, the significance of each parameter and the frequency of recording
• Recognise any adverse/ side effects and manage them appropriately
