Course Details:

Intrathecal administration is a route of administration for drugs via an injection into the subarachnoid space so that it reaches the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and is useful in spinal anaesthesia pain management.

Audience: Clinical staff

Duration: 30 minutes

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how frequently a patient needs to be monitored and how this changes if a problem occurs
  • Identify key parameters that must be monitored and how to recognise potential problems
  • Monitor patients using the Bromage Score Grading System
  • Recognise possible complications
