Prof Yaniv Erlich worked as an Associate Professor of Computer Scienceat Columbia University and as chief scientific officer of MyHeritage.com. Prof Yaniv Erlich has performed studies on crowdsourced genomic data which led to foundational work in genetic privacy. The journalNature dubbed Prof Yaniv Erlich as a "genome hacker",however Erlich’s work led to discover a privacy loophole enabling reidentification of allegedly anonymous male research participants using just internet searches and their Y chromosome whichSciencemagazine called one of the top 10 breakthroughs of 2018.
