338 Leg Ulcer Prevention and Management
This course was created for at the start of 2021. It introduces the essential levels of skill and knowledge required in the management of Lower Limb Ulceration
Describe the anatomy and physiology (A&P) of the veins and arteries in the leg; Describe the importance of lower leg skin care; Explain the importance of prevention of ulceration; Describe when to refer patient to other health care professionals; Provide patient advice on how to improve circulation, such as mobility; Encourage patients/carers to comply with recommended management plan; Assess the condition of skin to the lower leg; Wash limbs, remove skin scales and apply emollients in the correct manner; Apply compression hosiery.
