000 Vehicle Fires and Evacuation

This module will provide you with the knowledge and skills to react confidently in the event of a vehicle fire to keep yourself, your colleagues, and your patients safe. It is for staff and volunteers who care for or transport patients in vehicles.
Learning objectives:
• Identify the possible causes of vehicle fires
• Describe the implications of a vehicle fire and the importance of early detection
• Understand the importance of dynamic risk assessment
• Explain the actions to be taken when a fire is discovered, including evacuating a vehicle with patients on board
• Understand when and how to use a fire extinguisher when a vehicle fire is discovered
