Module 3 - Organ retrieval and post donation care

This module will provide guidance and information in reagrds to the key aspects on the preoperative care of the DCD ( Donation after Circulatory death) donor and the DBD (Donation after Brain Stem Death) donor in preparation for organ offering and theatre retrieval. We will provide an overview of the organ offering and allocation processes and provide guidance on the requirements of staff in preparation for the organ retrieval operation. Information and guidance will be provided in regard to the retrieval operation, staff involved and requirements of the role. We will provide an overview of donor family care during and after donation has taken place.
