Basics of Clinical Biochemistry - the analytical pathway and getting it right first time (GIRFT)
This presentation goes through the analytical pathway and considering a number of pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical considerations of how samples are processed in the way they are within clinical biochemistry. This presentation gives broad overviews of principles for individuals considering a career/starting out in a career in clinical biochemistry to get some principles and trigger thinking about why certain processes are in place within the clinical laboratory.
The second half of the presentation highlights considerations on laboratory practice that fall out of national processes such as Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT), which is driving national processes ot harmonise laboratory practice.
