Applying mathematical modelling to biological problems in plant science
We will discuss models for various biological processes and problems, at different spatial resolutions and timescales, from subcellular to whole plants. We will also describe the challenges in integrating models and experimental data, and suggest strategies for successful interdisciplinary collaborations.
Who is this course for?
This webinar is suitable for anyone interested in mathematical modelling of biological data and plant science. No prior knowledge of bioinformatics is required, but undergraduate level knowledge of biology would be useful.
This event is part of a webinar serieshighlighting the current concepts and analytical methods in plant sciences applicable to research, data management, and crop improvement. To explore other topics from this series and registration details follow this linkPlants: a data sciences perspective.
Outcomes
By the end of the webinar you will be able to:
- Describe some of the different uses of mathematical models in plant science
- Identify how mathematical models can be successfully integrated with biological data
- Appreciate what models are useful for, and their limitations
