Key Principles for Influencing Contact With Patients, Carers and Families
This course provides an overview of different psychological approaches such as motivational interviewing, positive behaviour support, behavioural activation, therapeutic alliance formation and group interventions to support interactions with patients, carers and families.
The purpose is not to make us all experts but to enable to us to understand some key principles, practice using some fundamental techniques and to know when and how to seek support from others in our team where needed. These aren’t a schedule of interventions to be followed, but an outline of a toolkit on how to engage with individuals.
