NEWS2 (National Early Warning Score) provides a systematic, standardised method to assess simple physiological parameters and acute illness severity in all patients aged 16 and above.

Learning objectives:
• Describe the benefits of NEWS2
• List the main ways in which NEWS2 is to be used
• Know the six physiological parameters included with NEWS2
• Describe the NEWS2 system, thresholds and triggers
• Accurately record and score parameters
• Perform a NEWS2 calculation
