Supporting Your Patients
Certificate available: complete this course to be awarded a certificate
This course aims to support primary care professionals in identifying patients’ needs and how they can be supported at different stages of their cancer journey. Cancer can affect emotional, practical, financial, and spiritual aspects of daily life, and can have an impact on an individual’s roles at home, work and school. This module follows Frank, a retired 63-year-old, through the different stages of his cancer experience, from diagnosis, to treatment and remission, to relapse, and utilises interactive elements, discussions with specialists, and knowledge checks to help clinicians learn how best to support their patients facing cancer.
On completion of this course, you will understand:
- How to recognise and support the emotional, social and physical needs of patients at each stage of their cancer journey
- How to prepare patients for cancer treatments
- When and where to signpost/refer patients for support and information
