Expecting a baby and becoming a parent can be a time of great joy, but it can also be a very challenging and emotional time and it is common to feel overwhelmed, feel a dip in confidence and struggle with the adjustment and new responsibilities of parenthood. The Caring Connection shares four women’s experiences on how the Parent-Infant Relationship Service helps primary caregivers’ and their infants build a stronger relationship, which lays the positive foundation for health and well-being that can last a lifetime.

An animation, to share real experiences from four parents supported by the parent-infant relationship service at NHS Blackpool Teaching Hospitals. Made by interviewing parents who have had support and overcome difficulties in their parent infant relationship.Supported by NHS Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, Blackpool Better Start, Blackpool Families Rock.

The film will be used to let parents know that support is here if they need it, and letting referral services know about it, to enable them to refer families to the right service.

If you, or someone you are close to, is experiencing mental wellbeing problems connected to pregnancy and/or early parenthood, talk to your GP, health visitor or midwife and visit our support page to find local and national support organisations.
