Not yet rated

Under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 employers have a responsibility to ensure that its employees are protected as far as reasonably possible from exposure to pathogens and offers free influenza vaccinations to its employees as part of its Occupational Health service.

Vaccination of health care staff is part of the UK immunisation strategy to not only ensure healthcare provision remains available but also to protect patients from transmission of infectious diseases.

Any vaccine-preventable disease that is transmissible from person to person poses a risk to both healthcare professionals and their patients. Healthcare workers have a duty of care towards their patients which includes taking reasonable precautions to protect them from communicable diseases.
