This is the major incident training video for the Royal Liverpool University Hospitals Emergency Department . It should be used in conjunction with the RLUH ED major incident plan document and the wider LUHFT major incident plan. The video summarises what constitutes a major incident, the changes to the department that take place when a major incident is declared and the process by which patients are managed when presenting to the RLUH ED during that time.

If you work in the ED at RLUH or you may be required to attend the ED during a major incident, this is an important piece of learning. Although major incidents are rare, having an up-to-date understanding of how the systems in the ED changes when a major incident is declared is essential.
