At the end of this session clinical staff will ..
- be aware of the importance of the National Ambitions for Palliative and End of Life Care the National Framework for local action 2021-2026.
- know the difference between palliative care and end of life care.
- know who and how to refer to the specialist palliative care team.
- know what to look for when they think they recognise a patient is dying.
- be more fully informed in how to complete the Care of the Dying Patient Document (CDP) and the ward team’s responsibilities, daily assessments and care after death.
- be more informed about the pain and symptom management of a dying patient
- know what palliative care provision is in this hospital to support the wards in providing good palliative and end of life care.
- be informed on the guidance to aid care for Covid-19 patients who are dying.
