  • Identify the pathology around CVC/PICC use
  • Outline strategies to prevent blood stream infection
  • Identify blood stream infections
  • Demonstrate safe removal of CVC

Staff caring at the point of initial insertion will be able to:

  • Explain risks around insertion
  • Discuss rationale for catheter type, lumen & site selection
  • Highlight importance of insertion care/procedure checklists
