By the end of this session all participants will be able to:
- Identify the pathology around CVC/PICC use
- Outline strategies to prevent blood stream infection
- Identify blood stream infections
- Demonstrate safe removal of CVC
Staff caring at the point of initial insertion will be able to:
- Explain risks around insertion
- Discuss rationale for catheter type, lumen & site selection
- Highlight importance of insertion care/procedure checklists
