338 Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT®)
The Trust utilises international standard resources produced by Produced by the Association for Safe Aseptic Practice (ASAP) a non-profit clinical organisation run by clinicians to support clinicians to provide effective aseptic technique to patients.
ANTTis the most widely used clinical practice framework for aseptic technique in healthcare and, importantly, it provides a universal practice language for this critical clinical competency.
This course provides the theoretical knowledge required for gaining competency in ANTT.
The basic theory of ANTT explained in the course defines the components of aseptic technique and how they interrelate with each other according to the technical challenge of achieving asepsis for different procedures. It is based on a simple set of Principles and Safeguards that, if followed routinely, will ensure safe aseptic technique.
During this course, you will be looking at:
-
how patients get infected during invasive clinical procedures
-
the critical importance of aseptic technique and why ANTT is being adopted by healthcare organisations as a universal standard, and
-
how the Principles and Safeguards of ANTT are routinely applied to practice by the ANTT approach.
This training should be completed alongside the resource available via the Trust Aseptic Non Touch Technique intranet site and the Trust Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) Protocol.
Training is appropriate for all healthcare worker undertaking procedures requiring the use of ANTT.
