Nursing in Adult Prison Healthcare Settings: VR360 Interactive Application (browser)
This VR360 interactive application features 5 scenarios based on real life practitioner/patient interactions.
Scenario 1: Orientation to placement opportunities in health and justice takes you inside the prison and introduces the people involved. You will be able to obtain more information about the setting, the multi-professional team, the nurse's role and the health care needs of prisoners.
Scenario 2: Optimising safety and reducing risks: developing pre-placement awareness to understand potential challenges for nursing students in adult prison healthcare setting stakes you inside the treatment room of the prison and allows you to observe an interaction between a nurse and a prisoner. Notice the communication between them and the language used. You are asked to reflect on this by completing the reflection questions within the learning resource.
Scenario 3: Managing difficult situations using conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques in adult prison healthcare settings takes you inside the prison and enables you to observe a simulated scenario where you will be able to make decisions that will affect the outcome of the scenario. You should notice the communication skills of the people involved and how these work to resolve or worsen the situation.
Scenario 4. Managing pain relief in adult prison healthcare settings takes you inside the prison and enables you to observe a simulated scenario where you will be able to make decisions that will affect the outcome of the scenario.
Scenario 5. Caring for people who are prisoners in wider healthcare setting takes you inside the treatment room in a hospital setting and allows you to observe an interaction between nurses and a patient. Notice the communication between them and the language used.
